This week, I am joined by Mary Baldwin alum, Kosh Ratnayake. She is the first guest that I have had on the podcast who did not participate in the VWIL program, so she gives listeners a slightly different perspective on what life was like at Mary Baldwin College. While at Mary Baldwin, Kosh played on the soccer team, majored in English, and served as a tutor at the writing center. After graduating, she pivoted from selling insurance to teaching, eventually making her way to the UAE where she taught for five years. Now, she is back in the United States embarking on a new career journey and is starting to tap into her creative energy. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the conversation.

This week’s episode with Sarah McFarland brings some much needed comedic relief to your lives. Sarah and I have a fun chat about the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the crazy story of how she ended up at Mary Baldwin College, her childhood obsession with Hillary Clinton, her love for concerts, and so much more. Although she was initially a reluctant guest, she settles in quite quickly and we both spend much of the conversation laughing at each other’s stories. You won’t want to miss her sarcastic quips and hilarious facial expressions throughout the episode. So, it is highly recommended that you watch the video on YouTube as well.

In this week’s episode, I sit down with Tesla Seri, another close friend of mine from college. After graduating from Mary Baldwin College, she went to law school at Syracuse University and eventually relocated to New York City. We took a little road trip to Providence, Rhode Island and stayed in a charming Airbnb located in the historical Federal Hill neighborhood which you will find out actually has some ties to the mob. In this episode, we dive into the Barbie movie, our favorite kebab spot in Charlottesville, what made her decide to go to law school, immigration law, and student loan debt. It’s a great mix of both lighthearted and serious topics.

This week, I am joined by Jas Rolle, a fellow Mary Baldwin alum. We have quite the gay agenda. Both of us identify as lesbians, so we chat about an age old stereotype that all women who go to a women's college are lesbians which spoiler alert...is false. While this episode is focused on our queer experiences as college students and adults, we also discuss growth mindset, Myers Briggs personality types, love languages, and more. At times, this episode feels more like a therapy session than a podcast interview and Jas definitely has co-host potential should I ever need one.

This podcast aims to have fun and candid conversations that highlight the diverse experiences and life journeys of graduates from all-women’s colleges. To ensure that all graduates of women's colleges are represented, some guests may identify as non-binary or trans. Don't forget to subscribe so that you can be the first to listen when episodes one and two are released on August 21st.

The Women's College
The majority of institutions of higher education for women were founded in the early 19th century. Initially, these institutions were meant to prepare students for their roles as wives and mothers by teaching religion, singing, dancing, and literature. At this time, the only socially acceptable occupation was teaching and only unmarried women could be teachers. The number of women's colleges reached their peak in the 1960s with a total of 281. According to the Women's College Coalition, there are only 32 active women's colleges that remain today. There is a significant debate as to whether or not all women's colleges are still relevant. More recently, some women's colleges have updated their policies to include admission to students who identify as trans, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming. Therefore, this podcast aims to highlight the diverse experiences and life stories of guests who have attended these higher education institutions.
